Fenway High School's Learning Partners
Over the years, hundreds of
adults have contributed to the education of Fenway students. These
"Friends of Fenway" ensure that the school's practices stay up
to date with contemporary thinking in the main disciplines - Math, Science
and Humanities - and provide "real world" learning experiences
for students in all types of work environments.
There are many
opportunities for outsiders to support Fenway students on their
educational path. Fenway relies on its community friends to act as judges
at student exhibitions; to serve on its Board of Trustees and Advisory
committees; to tutor, mentor and supervise students in worksite
internships; to come speak to students about different subjects; to donate
equipment, books, supplies, tickets and money; to introduce co-workers to
the school and to spread the word about this remarkable inner-city public
high school.
Fenway's history of
collaboration has included a number of major organizational partnerships.
Current partners include Boston's Museum of Science, which has worked
closely with Crossroads House students for 10 years, and the Dana Farber
Cancer Institute, which has provided opportunities and support for the
school since 2000. A partnership with Emmanuel College was formed in 2004.
Some Fenway students take courses at the college and college students
provide tutoring assistance to the learning center and classrooms.
